    Balmoral Show 2012

I absolutely love covering The Balmoral Show . It reminds me of the times when I worked for Farmweek.TV. I love being outside, although I have to admit this year as you can see from the picture the weather was awful :(. In saying that it was a great day and a little bit of rain didn't stop the farmers from across the island attending the show.

It's a real family day out and each year I am still amazed at the size of some of the cows lol...This is the last time it may seem that the country comes to town as the event may be hosted at the Maze prison site next year - looking forward to it already xxx

    Miss NI 2012

As I said on my homepage thanks so much to CMPR for recommending me to Alison Campbell to film this fantastic shoot. It was great to be invloved in the Miss Ni competition and I wish all the girls the best of luck. After this job I seriously felt I needed to hit the gym .. Look at those legs lol.... xxx

Ps. Well done to Finola Guinnane on her reign she was a lovely Miss NI xx

    Armagh Rose

So, I decided to join in on the fun and enter the prestigious Armagh Rose contest. It's always something that I wanted to do and seeing the age bracket cut off point is 28- this is my last chance (God I'm getting old lol).  The competition I believe is such an amazing event as it celebrates young women of Irish descent, their culture and hertiage- all important values that I always strive to promote.

My Armagh Rose experience started with meeting the other girls at the Armagh City hotel before getting on a bus which kick started our Armagh rose experience. Our day out consisted of a trip to Lurgan on Saturday where we took in a fashion show, seen an insect hotel in Oxford Island, had high tea at Ballydougan pottery, found out the history of Brownlow house all before having a lovely meal at The Cellar bar. All the girls and organisers where lovely and it truly was a fantastic day out.

The final is on Friday night at The Armagh City Hotel, so fingers crossed it goes well. I'll let you know how it all went!!Say a wee prayer that I don't fall off the stage.

Good luck to all the rosebuds xxx

PS. Thanks to my lovely sponsor Perfect Day - as without the sponsors the event couldn't take place x

    In Your Corner

'In your Corner' was such an amazing experience to be part of. The past six years I have been specialising in online media, so it was great working on a live broadcast both as a presenter and a researcher.

Researching issues that mattered to people’s livelihoods such as fuel laundering, the fact the Northern Ireland is the only children’s hospital in the UK not to have an MRI scanner along with asbestos, computer scams among others, proved both a rewarding and challenging task. Personally looking back over the series it was great that the ‘In your Corner’ team managed find resolutions and move along many of these issues.

As a video journalist I usually work alone so it was brilliant to be working in a team. ‘Talk of the town’ took me out of the studio and onto the streets of the 6 counties across the Northern Ireland. It was a brillaint working with cameraman Stuart Lamb - this was very different for me as I am so used to filming myself. I have to admit though it was a welcomed change, as I could concentrate more on my presenting and reporting.

It was such good fun doing this segment there is something to be said about being out on the ground - I met some really interesting characters and animals (epsiode 6) over the past 6 weeks and I am grateful to all took the time to stop and chat with me.

    Luv Ash xx
