    Humble Beginnings

Féile FM, the station of Féile an Phobail, first hit the airwaves in 1996 with a restricted licence, broadcasting to the West Belfast area during February/March and July/August.

Aislinn joined the station in 1998 as a junior reporter. Trained by Ann Cadwallader it was here that she developed her skills in how to write, edit and read the news. From 2001 Aislinn held the position of news Editor until she took up full time employment in 2006.

It was through her experience and skills gained at the station that Aislinn got the opportunity whilst still in school to interview both political and musical personalities such as The President of Ireland Mary Mc Aleese,  Gerry Adams MP, then Martin Mc Guniness MP, Westlife & Girls Aloud along with many other bands from throughout the world.

    Realising the Dream

Catching the bug for the media industry Aislinn decided that broadcasting was the career for her. The station provided Open College Network (OCN) accredited training in radio and production skills. Aislinn completed this course with a distinction before going on to teach some of the modules to the next generation of radio volunteers. Aislinn later attended the University of Ulster reading Media Studies, graduatiing in June 2006.

    Musical Passion

Music, however is one of Aislinn’s first loves. Throughout her time at the station she began presenting her own music shows, promoting the station and generally increasing the listenership locally at different Festival events such as the festival concerts including the annual 'Party In The Park' which attracts crowds of around 50,000 and Rock Around the Christmas Tree events, as well as many of the St Patrick’s day festivals where she compered along side Boyzone’s Keith Duffy.

Her role has included performing as MC/DJ warming-up the audience at events featuring Girls Aloud, Atomic Kitten, Samantha Mumba, Shane Duffy & Eton Road in Belfast prior to the main events at the West Belfast Festival.

    Going Full Time

In 2004 Féile FM started to broadcast online, allowing the station and its host community to develop links with other communities throughout the world.

In October 2005 Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, in a clear vote of confidence, awarded Féile FM a full-time Community Radio Licence.

A dream come true for every radio volunteer, Aislinn & Tony took this unique opportunity to broadcast worldwide and decided to join forces by combining there individual shows.

Together they both continue to volunteer for one of the most successful community development participation projects in the North of Ireland interviewing the festival acts, djing at events, hosting road shows or just giving an all round helping hand to keep the radio and festival running!
Stay tuned to Féile FM 103.2 as the best is yet to come!!
